Hey there and welcome to WordPress Trac!

This place is for reporting bugs in WordPress core, not support questions. For these we have https://wordpress.org/support/.

---

I assume you mean version 4.9.7, right?

Automatic updates for minor versions are enabled by default, when the server environment allows it of course (file permissions, etc.). If WordPress couldn't do an auto update, you'll get an email suggesting you to update.

If you head to http://wordpress.org/plugins/, you can find multiple plugins that allow for more fine grained control over this. For example, you could turn on auto updates for major releases or for plugins and themes.

Note that turning off auto updates is not recommended for security reasons.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
