Description
For the widgets the "Delete" and "Done" buttons are close to each other, and if you accidentally click Delete, there is no obvious option to restore the widget. Not great if you have added lots of html code... I would have liked to see here a "Are you sure you want to delete this widget?".

Hi @Vibeque, Welcome to WordPress Trac! Thank you for your ticket and good idea to add jQuery alert popup.
@marketingwebbing, No need to add any popup jquery or design we can use jQery alert popup with attached image and wait for ux team feedback.

- Keywords needs-design-feedback added; ux-feedback removed
I am just swapping the keyword to 'needs design feedback', which is being used now for design feedback.

Any word on next steps for this? Just deleted an important widget without warning today and was surprised to see this stagnant.

Ticket was reviewed in design meeting today and we believe that the concept is good. From both the screenshots presented, the wording needs some work as labels should be as specific as possible (where possible).
below is our proposal

Hi Everyone,
I have just taken a quick look into this, and tested this in the twenty twenty-one theme (the last yearly theme with widget support) and whilst we do not have a deletion confirmation popup, we do now have the ability to go back through our edits via the undo button. This is because core is using the newer widget editor based on the block editor, as opposed to the classic widget management. Whilst it does make sense to have confirmation when deleting something, as we can essentially undo the deletion it feels like the original issue where deleting a widget accidentally would cause data loss, has been resolved.
Due to this and the extreme age of this ticket, I suggest we close this ticket as it no longer aligns with functionality current in WP is today. As of such I have attached the close tag so we can get an additional review before closing this ticket down, so please do add any feedback here if you think closing this ticket is a mistake. 😃
We think it's a very good proposal, from the UX design, will help the user to avoid possible errors.
