Description

Hi, working with twenty seventeen.

The backend interface has changed, and since then pasting from Word doesn't work well. Some spaces between words disappear.

  • Component changed from General to Editor
  • Summary changed from Since last (theme?) update to Suboptimal pasting from Word in block editor

Hi there

This new block editor was introduced in WordPress 5.0. Pasting from Word should actually work better than before.

Is it possible that you could upload that Word document here so we can test this?

This is being tracked on GitHub in 11012. @RonnieK If you are able to provide the text you are testing, that would be great. Also any operation system, browser, and Word information such as versions is very helpful.

Thanks! I'll upload the original Word document.
Been doing a lot of this type of work in the past few days and the problem started only today.

OS: windows 10, browser: Google Chrome Version 71.0.3578.80 (Official Build) (64-bit), MS office professional 2013

  • Milestone Awaiting Review deleted
  • Resolution set to reported-upstream
  • Status changed from new to closed

The 'fused' text was also reported on GB12293 and seems to have been fixed years ago, along with similar pasting issues.

Pasting contents of the CVT doc worked for me today:

  • with Word 2016 and WordPress 6.8.1
  • with LibreOffice Writer and WordPress 6.9 trunk
