Hello @flips01, welcome to WordPress Trac and thank you for your ticket :-)

The issue described here affects several different file types, but there is a common cause which is tracked in #45615.

More information here: https://make.wordpress.org/core/2018/12/13/backwards-compatibility-breaks-in-5-0-1/

  • Resolution duplicate deleted
  • Status changed from closed to reopened
  • Summary changed from WP 5.0.1 not allowing AAC/.m4a files for security reasons to WP 5.0.3 not allowing AAC/.m4a files for security reasons
  • Version set to 5.0.3

Seems this was not fixed for .m4a

The fix in 5.0.3 described in #45615 didn't fix this for Illustrator (.ai) and EPS (.eps) files for me. I have set the file type as 'application/postscript'. Illustrator files are just PDF files internally, maybe the same validator could be used? Should I open a new ticket for this?
