#4796 closed enhancement (worksforme)

re-add WP version in Admin page footers

Description

The current 2.3-alpha has a cleaner admin footer, but it lacks IMO the WP version. Why? Because most users, once they've upgraded their blog:

  • check their front page to see if anything seems broken
  • check the version number showing in the Dashboard to be sure they're running the latest

(- jump around for joy because they were scared to update but after all it's been yet another painless upgrade)

Don't expect users to tell off their head what version they're running, they really need a place somewhere that shows their version number. Othewise I predict a lot of question in forums & #wordpress from users asking how to know what version they're currently having.

  1. You are using a development version (2.3-alpha1). Cool! Please stay updated
  2. Your WordPress 2.x is out of date. Please update
  3. Version 2.x

Closing as WORKS FOR ME.
