This is already possible in a plugin, but suggest this might benefit from inclusion in Core.

There is currently a reference implementation in plugin form. https://wordpress.org/plugins/jsonfeed/

I'm not convinced this should be absorbed by Core.

Though JSON is usually the preferred way to work with data today, it doesn't seem that this proposed spec for a feed is universally accepted as a standard. I could be wrong, but that was my first impression doing some rough research. It also feels like another implementation of the REST API, which is already in core and accomplishes very similar functionality.

Additionally, I don't think that this meets the 80/20 threshold detailed in the WordPress philosophies without a compelling use case in Core.

I'm marking with a recommendation to close, but leaving it open for a second opinion.
