Add support for sub-sub-menus

Currently the only way to add multiple, grouped menu items is to create a new top-level menu. In most cases, this is overkill and inappropriate.

Some plugins have taken it upon themselves to make and style their own sub-sub-menu (such as SK2). They very widely and are inconsistent.

I propose adding core support for this. It shouldn't be too hard and it'd be very beneficial to us plugin developers.

SK2's implementation isn't too bad, but most of them are just ugly.

And i think we should add a themed breadcrumb trail for Pages into the default and classic theme. Like Drupal and every other simple blogging system have. Love to have this implemented gives more logic and pedagogic for people to know where they are on a blog!.

Maybe this should be in a own ticket :/...

  • Milestone changed from 2.5 (future) to 2.4 (next)

Since 2.4 will be the admin redesign version, we might as well slate it for that.

+1. This is a great idea, and would make it a lot easier for people who make complex plugins like SK2.

May I propose Breadcrumb NavXT to be included in the core? It's about time WordPress gets some decent breadcrumb navigation and this plugin is included by default in several of Brian Gardner's Revolution Themes.

Sorry, there's already a ticket item 4861 for the breadcrumbs. Please move if appropriate.
