Personally 'upgrade' makes it sound better and more 'essential' than 'update'

SVN uses the command svn update. I find I'm always getting apt-get update and apt-get upgrade confused. Can we keep WP's terminology and the terminology SVN uses the same?

+1 to update

Update means newer version.

Upgrade seems like you'd be switching to some type of premium WordPress or something, heh.

Upgrade is used by WordPress for DB schema upgrades. First you update (to the latest version), and then you upgrade (your database).

(In [5985]) Use "update" language to refer to new versions. Props johnbillion. fixes #4868
