    99Programs like WordPress should not make running out-of-date code easy to do, and if a plugin cannot be trusted to be update automatically, users will not know that until it’s already too late anyways, and by that time fatal error protection will have likely prevented the majority of failures.

    11 Auto-updates are the kind of on-off feature that seem ripe for using an actual Toggle UI control for. I know Gutenberg offers one, and they’re pretty easy to do with just CSS:
