WordPress Admin Upload Image bug

  • Upon upload of a very big image size, the record saved in wp_postmeta meta_value as upload filename has a suffix of "-scaled". But the file saved don't have the suffix "-scaled" in its filename. Thus, when insert image in a post with the editor, image will not show because the image save in the local storage didn't have the "-scaled" suffix.

Hi @traqy, thanks for the bug report.

The value in the image attachment meta is updated after the original image has been scaled and saved. If scaling of the image has failed for some reason, or was prevented by a plugin, the meta is not updated.

Could you look in the uploads directory (with FTP or through the hosting control panel) and check what image sub-sizes are created? Then post a list of the file names here.

Also worth it to try (if possible) disabling all plugins and switching to one of the default themes and testing again. This will eliminate "interference" by the theme or a plugin.
