When trying to add an existing post category to a post - simply check the box of this category

Description

What happens now:

When writing a new post and trying to add a new category for this post, if this category already exists - nothing really happens.

What should happen:

If this category already exists - simply check the box of this category.

I was able to reproduce this, but only while using the Classic Editor. It looks like it works correctly up until 4.8.

I was unable to reproduce this issue in the new block editor, so I am going to mark this as a low priority bug. If someone would like to create a patch for this, it can be considered for inclusion. But, since this is not a bug that breaks anything, it won't be prioritized.
