Deleting a page does not delete its permalink.

I followed Step 6 in this guide https://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/beginners-guide-to-troubleshooting-wordpress-errors-step-by-step/ and it seems to have solved the issue. Thanks anyway for your quick response!

I just tested this by deleting a published page and the slug was released, making the previously used permalink invalid.
Can you confirm this is occurring for you with all plugins deactivated and using one of the default themes (Twenty Twenty, etc). If so, can you add more information about the steps you're taking when seeing this occur?
