Give showinabox.tv a branch for development

Description

I am setting up the subversion repository for http://showinabox.tv/ , a videoblogging platform built on top of wordpress, and we would like to have a branch created in the wordpress svn so that we can freeze a release version of wordpress and add external references to our plugins, which are hosted in separate repositories. We believe that this will speed up our development process and give us a greater ability top comply with GPL coding standards by contributing our modifications back to the community.

This is probably a discussion for wp-hackers.

I don't see how WordPress/Automattic should provide a branch in the *official* SVN repository. If it's a plugin, you can get free hosting in the plugins DB, but I don't see the need for your own branch in the WP repository.

I agree with rob1n.

Also, if it's non-trivial (i.e. requires core hacking), there is nothing more you would gain from being hosted in Automattic's repo, than just svn merge'ing from WordPress in your own. It would work exactly the same.
