Description
Import WordPress should report if file obviously incorrect format
ENV: WordPress 2.3rc1
I just tried importing a MT export file, and author selection works ;-)
There is no feedback that the file is invalid.
Of course, no posts are imported, but "All done. Have fun!"

This has been fixed in WordPress trunk (2.5) (assuming by tellyworth's recent work).
