Undo function in Classic block resets to last save point

Description

The undo function, <Ctrl>+Z, does not perform incremental undo operations in the new embedded Classic Editor block.

Instead it reverts to the last save point, wiping out any work you have done since then. The reversion is unrecoverable.

I have described this as 'major' because it will be a significant problem to users of wordpress used to the old Classic editor, and anyone who uses the platform for any form of long-form writing.

The bug is trivial to replicate, and appears to be due to the overarching Gutenberg editor acting on Ctrl+Z before the Classic block is able to.

Platform: wordpress.com.

@seanwallis

Hello and welcome to trac!

Issues with the block editor are tracked on Github in the Gutenberg repository.

I've found that this issue has been reported previously and a fix has been made in version 8.8 of the Gutenberg plugin. It didn't make it in to WordPress 5.5 but I expect it will be fixed in WordPress 5.6.

Please see https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/22797, as this has been reported in on GitHub I'll close this ticket as reported upstream.
