Description

I installed and tested the new Twenty Twenty One on Windows localhost using xampp and added the dark mode button from the theme customizer. When opening the installation with Internet Explorer, the dark mode button is missing in Internet Explorer 11.

Hi!

As with ticket #52311, this is on purpose, there is limited support for Internet Explorer where we have made sure that all content is readable.

Hi!

If the theme does not support Internet Explorer browsers then I think we should add a message that told the user that the Twenty Twenty-One theme isn't supported in Internet Explorer browsers.

Or we can add Internet Explorer browser-related CSS to show Dark Mode in Internet Explorer browsers.

  • Keywords close added

Dark mode is a special feature for the theme and therefore should not need to give all options in older browsers.

And the support page for the theme mentions that it has limited support for IE11.

  • Keywords needs-patch close removed
  • Milestone Awaiting Review deleted
  • Resolution set to wontfix
  • Status changed from new to closed

Since WordPress has not supported any version of IE for a handful of releases (with the overall global usage is less than 1%), the time to fix this has passed.
