Description

Hi All,

I am a developer and administrator of many WordPress sites.

I have a really annoying issue I wish to raise, the Guttenberg Tips Pop-Up’s!

As a developer, and I suspect there are a lot of developers like me, I have all my browsers set to clear Cache & Cookies when they are restarted.

This means that EVERY time I open a page/post for any reason, I get the dreaded Guttenberg Tips/Welcome Pop-Ups – this is incredibly annoying when dealing with the ammount of sites I deal with.

Surely, given that so many users would be Devs/Admins, there should be a really simple way to disable this behavior?

Can we not have a 'disable tips' switch that resides in the database rather than the browser?

@carl-fox Thanks for creating the ticket! I discovered the Disable Welcome Messages and Tips plugin does this now, and it also disables the fullscreen mode.

We already have GitHub issues to fix this in the editor (without installing a plugin), mainly GB15105 to connect the setting to a user's profile. A related issue, GB19443, aims to add the "Welcome Guide" link to Options settings after the other part is completed. If you would like to comment on either of those issues, please contribute there.
