Description (last modified by )
I think it would be better for a UX to open a support page about the new WordPress update in the new tab instead of the same tab as the website administration originally is open in.
Do follow along at #23432, however, for the larger question!

Hi @redoper and thanks for the suggestion!
As per #23432, we strive to avoid forcing links to open in a new window or tab. (See related tickets)
It still might be good to indicate that the link is external, though, so the user can make a more informed decision how to open it.

Hi @sabernhardt,
ok, I understand. Then at least some indication that the link is external would be great, but I can't figure any solution in this case right now.

Closing this as wontfix. We'll definitely give some thought to adding indicators for external links throughout the site, to give users better information to decide whether or not to open a link in a new tab, but we won't force links to open in new tabs unless it's contextually necessary.
Marked mentioned link for the ticket.
