Description
Currently, Twenty Twenty-one uses 10 posts per page on archive pages. For website visitors who happen to get three columns, this gives a page with three filled rows and the tenth entry as "one extra" on a separate row.
In order for archive pages to look nice in both 1, 2, 3, and 4 columns layout, it would be great to set the default posts per page to 12 instead of current 10.

Hi
I did not understand what you meant. The theme only displays one column on archive pages.
There is no theme option to change the number of columns.
The number of posts that show on an archive page is set in the WordPress admin under settings > reading.
The theme does not use a custom query for this.
