I am suggesting the Post Format options be available to users of the Twenty Twenty theme.

Thanks for this suggestion! When this theme was built, a decision was made to not include support for post formats. The theme was built to embrace the block editor, and most of the benefits of post formats can be reproduced with blocks, and block patterns.

New features are also generally not added to older default themes unless they are needed to support new features in WordPress itself.

However, there should be no issues implementing post format support in a child theme. If you run into any issues, anything preventing that would be considered a bug and would be fixed.
