Not getting correct version on About page, after Upgrade

I have just checked and came to know that version on the About page is not correct after the upgrade.

I have used Beta Tester Plugin and tried to update manually.

Have attached the screenshot as well.

Could you clarify from which to which version you were upgrading, and which settings you were using for the Beta Tester plugin?

5.8 is the correct version for the current beta versions or nightly builds.

I was testing the WP v5.8 beta version upgraded from WP v5.7.2 using the Beta tester plugin.

Where it says, "Step into WordPress 5.8." It should be "Step into WordPress 5.8"

Maybe in 5.8. the "." for the punctuation but is a bit odd and the expectation of the general user is something missing after that dot.

Ah, yes, thanks for the clarification. I misread the initial report as the "5.8" part not being correct here.

Yes, it looks like the dot is a part of the heading, though I agree it's not very typical to have punctuation in headings.

The current text is still for the 5.7 version as committed in [50418] / #52347.

For 5.8, the About page is being worked on in #52775 and a new text should be ready in a week or two. Let's continue the discussion there :)
