Description

Hello, Thank you for new WP 5.8 version - it's awesome.
I have one problem with new widgets version. Before update there was display option – I could choose where specific widget will be displayed. For example on Page type: Pages, Home Page or Posts. Now I can't find it - Is there any option to switch between widget blocks and old version of widgets?
Or where could I find display option of widgets? Thank you for your help.

Hello @lumay,

Welcome back to WordPress Core's Trac!

Before update there was display option – I could choose where specific widget will be displayed. For example on Page type: Pages, Home Page or Posts.

Is your site using a plugin to provide this type of selection control? If yes, which plugin is it?

Yes It is Jetpack option and I've got enebled it:
Jetpack > Writing > Widgets >

Enable widget visibility controls to display widgets only on particular posts or pages

Is there any option to switch between widget blocks and old version of widgets?

For reference, you can use this plugin to go back to the old widgets screen: https://wordpress.org/plugins/classic-widgets/

In doing a search of Jetpack's GitHub repo, there is a closed issue for this report. It does have a merged fix though I'm not sure if the fix has been released yet.

As @johnstonphilip noted, you can use the Classic Widgets plugin to restore the old widgets screen. I just tested with 5.8 and Jetpack to confirm the widgets visibility option is available when using it.

What else can you do?
You can report the issue through Jetpack's support portal or in the plugin's support forum found here https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/jetpack/.

As this is not a WordPress Core issue but rather a plugin issue, closing this ticket.

FYI
Jetpack 9.9.1 update has visibility option in widget blocks:

Widgets: allow the use of widget visibility conditions in gutenberg based widget editing.
