Hi I keep getting npm errors when I try to set up my dev environment how do I fix this

Thanks for the ticket, sorry it took a while for someone to get back to you.

Were you able to resolve the issues with npm? I think I had similar issues when trying to use the latest Node version. Looking at the package.json file in core, it recommends Node 14.15.0 or later, and switching to Node 14.x resolved the issues for me.
