#55108 closed defect (bug) (reported-upstream)

No ability to view page from editing screen

Description

A core issue. When a user is editing a page, there is now no (easy) ability to view the page.

The useful, but highly elusive 'Page updated. View page' pops up for only a limited time after updating.

The workaround option underneath 'permalinks' is not at all obvious or intuitive for any normal user.

Hi @code-monkey! (That's the first time I've called another dev that!)

This should be discussed upstream at the Gutenberg repository.

You can search for an existing issue here and if none exists, open a new issue (as a Feature request/enhancement).

I'll close this ticket so that the discussion can be focused over there. Feel free to drop a link to an existing issue or a new one into this ticket to help others find it more easily.

Dropping a link to the issue on the Gutenberg repository: GB 30579

This discusses the Permalink/View post area, but there are several related issues that speak about the snackbar (the popup) too.

Resolving as reported-upstream.

Thanks @costdev I will leave the Gutenberg tickets for others. I have no doubt this will be picked up and attended to eventually. I'm super surprised it hasn't been attended to yet. It drives any non-tech user a little crazy. Thanks very much for your attention ;-)
