Description
Hi,
Social Media block is great to use. Unfortunately, adding email address m@… to the footer of my website:
- Keeps icon looking grayed out
- Won't open as mailto: in email client
For example check the footer here: https://www.milanstojanovic.com/
If possible please consider this for future enhancements. Thank you.

Part of this sounds like the following issue on GitHub:
https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/21876
The gray color might have happened because switching to the "Logos Only" style removes the "Icon background" color setting in WordPress 5.9.3. I tried the same in WordPress 6.0 Beta 1, and it seems to have been fixed for the upcoming version.
I'll close this ticket. If you have anything to add to issue 21876, please comment there. And you could open a new issue for other block editor bugs and enhancements.
