Hello @languagecoach and welcome to WP Core Trac.

Akismet is not perfect at detecting spam. Akismet is also a plugin and a service, not maintained on this Trac.

WordPress' comments display is dependent on your Settings - Discussion. See here

Your issue seems more like a support topic, generally here, or for Akismet here

I close this as "invalid" for now, as no clear bug in, or enhancement for, WordPress Core. If it turns out this happens due to a core bug, or some fuctionality that can be enhanced, please come back here and reopen this ticket with a bit more information about your setup and discussion settings.

To add some extra possible info @languagecoach this feels/looks like a pingback more than a comment, but I could be wrong.

@tw2113 Yes, it is a pingback rather than a comment. Usually, I have to approve pingbacks, but this one seems to have 'slipped' in. Would that be possible? The same site pinging me also links to my site, which I have disavowed.
