    1 Just to clarify, it does seem like a bug to me, but I may be missing something. That's why I'm waiting for input from the other people / team members before taking any action.
     1Yes whenever page is added, author archive is present in the sitemap.xml

     5About 404 error, I think it depends on a theme (that was not an issue in my local wordpress-develop installation)

    39For now, I'm leaving the code to possibly fix this as a use of a filter
