Description

MariaDB 10.3 is reaching EOL (May 2023) and documentation should be updated.

Requirements page should be updated to:

MySQL version 5.7 or greater OR MariaDB version 10.6 or greater.

MariaDB changed its roadmap and is launching numerous versions for testing / development, and currently the only LTS versions are 10.6 and 10.11.

Hosting Handbook has been updated with this new information.

BTW, I just saw that 10.4 and 10.5 are also LTS

Thanks for the ticket!

Since the Hosting handbook mentions MariaDB 10.4 as the minimum recommended version, I think we could do the same in core for now. That would also match what was done for 10.3 last year in [53435] and [54069].

In 55665:

Site Health: Bump the recommended MariaDB version to 10.4.

MariaDB 10.3 reaches EOL (“End of Life”) in May 2023. The recommended minimum is bumped to 10.4 for now.

References:

Follow-up to [52420], [53435], [54069], [54076].

Props JavierCasares.
See #58158.

Keeping the ticket open for now to also update the Requirements page.

There is a new main theme on WordPress.org, so commits like [meta11866] would no longer work.

This appears to be the process to follow:

MariaDb 10.3 is now eol (23th may 2023) so it would be great if the https://wordpress.org/about/requirements/ could be updated.
