Description

Hallo,

this is 2023, packing items into zip item for downloadable content is normal. Can we please revoke this weird function so the end-user can devicde what they want to allow or not, and not end-up looking for weird plugins to install or documents about tampering the config.php, yes?

Hi @teevee98, welcome to Trac!

Can you be more specific about the function you're referring to? I can upload ZIP files on a clean WordPress install.

I can assume that the issue is that the current site cannot write into the /wp-content folder and requires FS_METHOD to be defined as direct. @teevee98 am I right?

If so, it's a server settings issue and WordPress is just doing its best to deal with the existing restrictions.
