I actually found the issue - though it is very strange. Admin editing works superb when you don't type out an article's 'headline'. However, once I type the article's headline, the entire page's performance drops significantly, strange right?
I'm currently writing text in the body first and then saving the headline part for last, since that seems to be the only way for the page to function (until it begins to lag once the headline is filled).
Wonder if that's a glitch developers have come across yet. Now that I've found the issue, it would be worth looking into and fixing.

There is no "headline", perhaps you mean the post title?
Just for a test, please try using your browser in an incognito mode, so that no browser extensions are running, and see if you have the same problem.
