Description
When I edit or create a new post the featured image area is missing so I can't edit or create new posts. This is very annoying. I'm up to date on everything. Using TagDiv newspaper as my theme.

So you're saying after 2 years of using WordPress and having no plugins installed that it's a plug-in causing the issue? I don't have anything installed I removed everything and it's still missing. Why does no one ever want to help me whenever I have problems with stuff? If I find a bug or something doesn't work I'm immediately chastised for even asking a question. You're telling me I got to go to a forum ask why something's not there only to have somebody tell me that I need to figure it out myself.

Hey :)
Your issue is most likely related to your theme, TagDiv Newspaper, not WordPress itself. (trust me)
WordPress Trac is meant for core issues and contributions, not for users searching for help. For assistance with your site, the support forum is the appropriate place. If users in the forum guide you elsewhere, it's because a plugin or theme you installed is causing the problem and they cannot help because they are not familiar with the inner workings of this plugin, thus it can be challenging for them to provide support.
This isn't a refusal to help but a redirection to the place where you can get assistance from the developers of the plugin or theme.
It's important to note that the WordPress community volunteers their time. Being respectful and seeking help in the right places can significantly improve your experience. Remember, no one is obligated to assist, but they will be happy to help if their help is appreciated and they are being met with respect.

So what you are saying is that if at any time I install a plug in or a theme or anything and it causes a problem or it doesn't and I remove it I can't get assistance because that one time I had something installed? Going to The Forum is like asking my 2-year-old to help. I'm not going to get an answer I'm going to be told to go to the developers website when the developer has absolutely nothing to do with this. Thanks a lot for nothing

Let me go back again and state that whenever nothing is installed and WordPress is still showing issues then telling me to go to the theme developer is going to do absolutely nothing. If nothing is installed and your source is causing problems then you go to the people who handle that. For example you don't tell me to go to Albertsons when I have a problem with walmart. It sounds like you all are just not interested in making this work. Thanks for that I've been suffering with this for over a month now and I guess I'll continue to do that. So much for a community that's supposed to be supportive. Yes that's passive aggressive but at this point I don't care. Nobody is offering assistance nobody is offering help everyone's pointing the fingers that everyone else and nothing gets done in that case.

@jtoney7852 It's really a process of elimination. You say you have zero plugins installed, which is fine. It removes plugins from the equation.
What happens when you switch the site to say the TwentyTwenty theme, does the functionality show up finally? If yes, then chances are it's an issue with the theme, and the theme developers should be reached out to.
Alternatively, is this a custom post type, or the standard out-of-box "post" post type? If a custom post type, does the post type have "featured image" set as one of the registered features? If not, then you're not going to have that functionality, and it's not WordPress core's issue. It's just how the post type got registered.
Second alternatively, do you have "featured images" toggled to show their UI? This can be toggled on and off with the block editor, via the 3 vertical dots in the upper right corner, then select Preferences from the dropdown, and then click into the Panels tab. If you're still using the classic editor, it would be toggle-able via the Screen options tab, also found in the upper right corner.

It does not show up regardless of the theme. Yes I have tried all of those themes. No it never comes back

The main issue lies with you, @jtoney7852. If you don't show respect, why should anyone volunteer their time to assist you? tw2113 provided valuable information on troubleshooting, but you're not following any instructions. It seems you're unwilling to listen to anyone. Do you believe being angry at the community on Trac and the forum will magically resolve the problem?
As mentioned earlier, the forum is the appropriate platform to seek help for your WordPress installation. However, you haven't initiated a topic in the forum. Your approach seems to be more focused on insulting others rather than contributing to solving the issue.

That's not the case but you believe whatever you what. I have tested everything possible in order to make this thing work and it doesn't but you go ahead and believe that I don't know anything about this that I'm just making it up. Whenever no one is willing to answer anything within the support Forum then it's time to ask Developers but since you feel like this is not your problem or you shouldn't assist then I guess we're at a standstill. Thanks for doing absolutely nothing.
Hi and welcome to WordPress Trac!
Trac is used to track bugs of the WordPress Software, your issue does not represent an issue with WordPress itself but more likely a faulty plugin or webserver configuration.
However there is a place to go for your issue: I recommend you to go to the WordPress support forum to get help for your problem: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
