No way to set html type and Atom feed and XHTML

Reported by: shelleyp Owned by:
Milestone: Priority: normal
Severity: normal Version: 2.3.3
Component: General Keywords: XHTML Atom feed
Focuses: Cc:

Description

There is no way in the admin pages to set the HTML type between html and xhtml. This setting should be used to determine how the pages are served. It's also used in the Atom feed, which leads to an incorrect Atom feed.

If we set the value manually, the Atom feed is incorrect because the Atom feed is hard coded to html, but the type will then be xhtml.

In addition, the current feed is using CDATA sections, which generates an error when pages are served up as application/xhtml+xml.

shelleyp, thanks for participating in WordPress! Please isolate the issues into their own bug reports. Please also don't change the milestone from the default -- leave that for a core member of the team. Generally, we don't set the milestone to trunk unless it is a severe issue, there is a patch, or a core member of the team has taken ownership. For now, I'm closing this ticket as invalid.

Sounds like Ticket #3600, which was closed as won't fix.

Sounds related to Ticket #4595 and #5328 . If it is, maybe comment there to champion those issues.

In addition, the current feed is using CDATA sections, which generates an error when pages are served up as application/xhtml+xml.

Please file a separate ticket for these providing as much detail as possible, including the experienced symptom, to allow as many people as possible to understand the importance of the issue. Patches always welcome ;-) Also, may relate to #4466.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
