Upload files to another server

I would like to know if there is any possibility to add a mode of uploading files to another server in the coming versions of WordPress in order to reduce the data transfer from only one server and make it more convenient in Editor, because we still can do it manually by inserting photos from URL.

The uploader allows plugins to add buttons leading to plugin-generated pages. So yes, it is possible and should be done via plugins until it is shown to be of general usefulness.
