Description

I want to edit the submenu in the twentytwentyfour header menu. I can change the text color. But not the background color. It remains white.

The theme has no further modicications. It is the vanilla twentytwentyfour theme, and i want to edit it with guttenberg.

Appearance > Editor, click in the middle, up left go to styles, choose Blocks, choose submenus

Hello,
Thank you for your ticket. I'm no sure to understand, we can see the option to customize.
Do you mean you can choose the background color, but it is not applied in Front-end ?

Regards

Hey Sebastien,

Many thanks for checking. Exactly. Background of the sub menu remains white. No matter what color i choose. What you can see in the shot is that i have set it to grey. But the sub menu still shows the white background.

Kind regards Arunderan

Hey @Arunderan, Welcome to Trac and Thanks for bringing this up.

You can also change the color of the submenu item from the block settings. You can try:

Select the Navigation block

  • In the block settings sidebar, look for the "Styles" tab
  • Open the "Colors" settings
  • Look for the "Submenu" or "Dropdown" settings
  • Set both the background and text colors there

Marvellous, this way works. Many thanks @abcd95 :)

However, i stumble across the next quirk already. I cannot override the text color from this location. It remains red in the frontend, as i have set it from the submenu styles. Easy fix of course. But a bug i guess :)

Kind regards
Arunderan

Hi @Arunderan thank you for the report and welcome to WordPress Trac!

I am able to reproduce the problem, but it happens in other themes too, it is not limited to Twenty Twenty-Four, which means it is an issue with the block.

Tickets related to blocks and the block editor are managed in the Gutenberg GitHub repository.
There is a notice about this when you create a new ticket here on Trac, please let us know if there are ways it could be improved, so that is easier to know where to open the ticket.

This problem is already discussed in this issue:
https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/68350

Because of that, I am closing this ticket as "reported upstream".
