Private posts not displaying on front-end to Author (with Admin privs)

I upgraded my installation from 2.3.3 to 2.5RC1 this morning in order to test/preview, and noticed a big behaviour change. I was previously able to view "Private" entires in amongst pubic entries, but not since upgrading.

Have tried adding a new Private post to see if it only affected old posts, but it's doing the same with both.

Can provide URLs and lists of active plugins if that helps.

Using r7414 I created some private posts as an admin user. I was able to see these posts on the blog's front page (when logged in as admin). When I logged out, the private posts were not visible. I logged in as a subscriber, but could not see the private posts. I logged in as an author and couldn't see them. I changed the author account to an admin and then was able to see the private posts.

With tests on 2.3.3 I experienced the same behavior.

Are you experiencing something different? Can you make sure to deactivate all of your plugins and try using the default theme?

Yes I was experiencing something different, private posts weren't visible when logged in as the author of said posts, user also being an admin.

I disabled all plugins - that didn't fix it. I then reverted to the "default" theme, and that did fix it. Behaviour was back as you described. Narrowed it down to something wrong with my theme, sorry for wasting your time thought I'd finally be able to contribute something small back to the wp community then but clearly not :(

Again, apologies for wasting your time.
