Description

Integrate the SVG Embed Core Component into Gutenberg with the following enhancements:

  1. SVG-Only Support: Restrict the component to accept only SVG files.
  2. Display SVG Tag: Ensure the SVG tag is visible within the SVG icon, as this feature is not currently supported in Gutenberg.
  3. Feature Request for WP 6.8: Request the inclusion of this functionality in the upcoming WordPress version 6.8.
  4. Customization Options: Add settings to adjust SVG colors and other visual parameters for improved visibility and customization.

Just wanted to mention that it's way too late for new feature to ship in WordPress 6.8 which will be released in 12 days. We closed this milestone for new features more than a month ago :)

SVG support is already being tracked in #24251. There are some security considerations that need to be considered there. I suggest following that ticket for any updates, and using an SVG plugin in the meantime.
