    1 Yes @sabernhardt, I was also investigating this issue and came across [https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/46964 #46964]. 
    2 The `id` attribute was initially removed in [https://core.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/47222#file9 Changeset 47222], but was later reintroduced in [https://core.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/47410 Changeset 47410].
