Dashboard News Widget shows old posts from Rosetta websites

There seems to be a small bug where old posts related to individual locales are being displayed.
For when the language is set as 'English UK' in General setting, image 1 is the displayed news.

When Malayalam is set as the language it loads a post from 2014

Was able to test and reproduce the issue on 6.7.5, 6.8.5, 6.9.4

That feed comes from the EN-BG translation of the general feed: ​https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp/dev/admin/en-gb/default/?filters%5Bstatus%5D=either&filters%5Boriginal_id%5D=12886&filters%5Btranslation_id%5D=61004584
Nothing was published since then so that's why you have old posts on your dashboard.

The same goes for Malayalam locale.

I think we can close this ticket as worksforme.

@audrasjb I understand that it comes from each of those feed. But the issues is why the old posts are being published here now. When new posts are published I understand the case. But an hello world post in ML and 2024 posts now doesn't offer anything.

To start with, I think ML should remove that hello world post from their locale.

To go further with this ticket, I'd say we could maybe avoid displaying posts that are more than X years old, but honestly it's pretty difficult to set a limit. This is gonna be super aribtrary.

Fixing this in the translations can be better and faster. I'll close the ticket as not planned.

I suggested setting the UK and Canadian English feed URLs to the original string. (The Spanish locales probably could use the same es feed URL in their translations too, if the other locales' feeds are not updated regularly.)

A limit would be very arbitrary. As a news feed, three months could be too old, though I probably would use one year. 14 out of 30 locale-specific feeds are older than a year.
