Thanks for the follow-up
- Yes, the same issue also occurs when cropping.
- I tested this on WordPress 6.9 and 6.3 as well, and the issue is still present there, so it doesn’t appear to be a recent regression in 7.1.
- I’m performing the edits through the Media Library.
- I’m using Microsoft Edge 151.
Thanks

- Keywords has-patch added
A fix is available for review in Gutenberg PR #83541:
https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/pull/83541
The PR includes regression coverage for the stale intermediate image URL case, numeric backup history keys, unrelated image URLs, and prefix-colliding backup keys.
Local validation completed successfully, including PHP syntax checks, PHPCS, a fresh Gutenberg production build, generated renderer PHP syntax, and the targeted PHPUnit suite (11 tests, 24 assertions).

Hi @martinplr - thanks for the bug report.
A few questions:
Also: what browser are you using? I'm asking to see if client side media is enabled which might change the upload path.
