404 Redirect when attempting to use plugin options

Reported by: pcorn54 Owned by:
Milestone: 2.5.1 Priority: normal
Severity: normal Version: 2.5
Component: Administration Keywords: 404, redirect, plugins, reporter-feedback

Description

This problem has been evident since upgrading to 2.5. I am now using 2.5.1-alpha with the hopes it would cure the problem. It didn't

In the dashboard, on the same line as links for "Write", "Design", "Comments" is listed, I also have the links for 5 plugins. "DATABASE","GALLERY","POLLS", "WASSUP" and "STATPRESS" Clicking these links takes me to the options for each plugin.

However, choosing any option for any of these plugins, redirects to a 404 PAge not found error.

The problem exists on all themes, including Default and Classic, as well as with other plugins deactivated in various combinations.

An example of this would be:

http://mexicotrucker.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=polls/polls-manager.php

Is this a defect in the script or perhaps something else? I cannot find the solution.

Thanks

What is the URL which you are directed to upon changing the options that 404's?

If it wasnt for the fact that you are having the problem with multiple plugins, i'd suggest it was a plugin issue, but i know for a fact that top level menu's *are* working for me currently.

Can you give a exact plugin name & exact version which its happening with?

NextGen Gallery 0.92
Statpress 1.2.9
Wassup 1.4.9
WP-DBmanager 2.20
WP-Polls 2.21

It is happening with all of these plugins. Click on the Top Level menu and it takes you to that plugins options. Select and option and click and it redirects your to a 404 page.

For example, using the WP-DBmanager. When we click on that in the top level of the dashboard, it correctly takes you to this url

http://mexicotrucker.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=dbmanager/database-manager.php

Now, I want to use the optimize feature so I click on that link and it returns this:

http://mexicotrucker.com/wp-admin/dbmanager/database-manager.php?page=dbmanager/database-optimize.php

Which sends me to the themes Custom 404 page.Nothing changes in the address bar from the above, but in the banner at the top of Firefox, the message is:

Nothing found for Wp-admin Dbmanager Database-manager Php?page=dbmanager Database-optimize Php- Firefox

I can give someone admin access if they will contact me so they can experiment and replicate the problem.

I've installed WP-DBmanager 2.20 and loaded the optimize database page, And the links *does* work for me..

It directs me to /wordpress/wp-admin/admin.php?page=dbmanager/database-optimize.php} which is correct. (upon clicking "Optimize")

It gets that URL directly from $_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'], which is set by the server, Or by WordPress if the server doesnt set it.. Given that WordPress pages work as normal, its tempting to say its a plugin issue.

Can you put up a phpinfo() page so that I can have a look at the $_SERVER values? Should be able to tell if its the server, or wordpress which is setting it.

I think we can mark this resolved and add Organize Series Plugin v2.0.1 to the list of plug ins not compatible with 2.5.

Solution? Don't use the plugin!

Just a heads up - I already have a fix out for this - check the current version of Organize Series - it's version 2.0.3 :)
