Description

The generic file editor was removed in this changeset: [6549]

No explanation, no discussion that I can find.

Why was it removed? I consider this to be a defect as I can now no longer see or edit my .htaccess files or test changes on the fly.

Not everybody has FTP access to their site from every location, the inability for me to edit files on the site is a bug.

  • Keywords dev-feedback needs-patch added

Could be scoped as a plugin maybe?

A generic editor can be useful, even if it's tucked away as an advanced option so people don't break things.

  • Priority changed from high to normal
  • Severity changed from critical to normal

I thought this was removed as a security threat.

  • Resolution set to invalid
  • Status changed from new to closed

can be done with a plugin.
