Pressit function missing in WP 2.5

Description

After being a key part of the Wordpress experience for the last 3 years+ the WordPress Pressit bookmarklet function has disappeared from WP 2.5
Agreed, it shouldn't be at the bottom of every write page window- however, it should be in user options interface.
Not having this in the base install is a pain for those of us who live by it- and have to use a workaround to make a bookmark.
I'm thinking of authoring a plugin to restore this functionality- however, that seems like a bad move when "code is poetry"

  • Milestone changed from 2.5.1 to 2.6
  • Priority changed from highest omg bbq to normal
  • Severity changed from major to normal
  • Type changed from defect to enhancement
  • Version changed from 2.5 to 2.6

This has been slated for inclusion in 2.6, IIRC.

Can't seem to find Matt's message on wp-hackers, but it's being "redesigned" and shall be stronger, faster, better.

Replying to zamoose:

Why wait for 2.6 and why take out a function that some consider essential?
It works for people who had previous installs-
you are causing major headaches for new users who want this functionality.

For reference, The PressIT code from previous versions will work seemlessly.

See http://wordpress.org/support/topic/164205 for a topic about it allready.
