Description

When writing an article in visual mode using any setting such as any of the Formatting options for the text you can double return to get out of that tag. Well when you start a block quote It works all well, but when you want to get out of block quote it doesn't allow you. I tried many times to press return to get out like any other tag in the WYSIWYG. I switched from Visual to HTML to Visual mode again and still the same thing, I can't break out of blockquote. I would have to go to HTML mode add a letter and go back to visual mode and start from there. I refreshed Firefox latest, cleared cache. closed browser, reopened. Still the same problem. If this can be fixed so you can break out of Block quotes this will be great. Thanks

Honestly, I think this is intended and preferred. Unlike most other tags, blockquotes are often multi-paragraphed meaning you need double line breaks.

I agree that Blockquotes can (and should) spread over multiple paragraphs, But there needs to be a easier way to break out of them..

Generally multi-paragraph blockquotes are copy-pasted as well, So that reduces the need for easy addition of paragraph spaces.

I guess its a weigh up between:

  • Easy addition of Paragraphs

or

  • Easy exiting of Blockquotes

or

  • Something which suits both worlds.

Personally when ever i use blockquotes i've got into the habit of typing the next paragraph which describes it, and then adding the style, that way i dont have to flip between views to get out of it.

Ah, okay. I stay as far away from WYSIWYG editors as possible, so I didn't realize. ;)

The Blockquote button is also a toggle, meaning you can turn it on, type or paste the text, including adding paragraphs, then click it again to turn it off.

When it's turned off, it takes the last paragraph out of the blockquote tag, so to close it, you press Enter, then toggle it off and continue typing (instead of pressing Enter twice).

Yes, that's how it works in most text editors too. The text is typed or pasted and formatting is applied afterwards.

Closing as invalid for now. If there's a better way to do this, feel free to reopen and post a link to an example, etc.
