When http://rpc.pingomatic.com/ is down posting something can have strange sideeffects

​http://rpc.pingomatic.com/ was not reachable for 30 minutes or so and i wanted to post something on my blog. My browser replied to me that the post.php-page timed out. I pressed "Publish" again and again. Then i removed the pingomatic-thing in my options and posted again. That worked.

Shouldn't there be a error message if ​http://rpc.pingomatic.com/ is not reachable?

And it happened again ... pingomatic.com is unreachable (22.6.04 - 15:05 GMT) and i got timeout/unreachable errors in my wp-post.php, but the post appears on my website ... there really should be an error message ... that would help keeping me from pressing the publish-button over and over again, resulting in zillion postings which all look the same :-)

As rpc.pingomatic.com seems to be down (or unreachable) more often in the last few days it becomes really annoying to use that feature ... a shorter timeout would really be appreciated. Thanks!

Timeout has been dropped to 2 seconds.
