i would like to suggest using the same class
class='avatar avatar-50 photo'
in both files (recent-comments and edit-comments) to display the commenters' avatars.

There isn't much horizontal space in that column. To make the avatar bigger we'd probably have to move the author meta below and make the row taller. It's something to consider, but probably not for 2.7. Closing as wontfix. We'll keep it in mind as we look over edit-comments.php during 2.8.
