#9130 closed feature request (wontfix)

Default category for user

this is a feature request based on this forum post: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/217939

To sum it up again: If you post blog entries by mail from eg. flickr, you may want to have them in a separate category. Because most people would have a dedicated account for remote posting, the easiest way is setting a default category for a user.

This feature should be integrated into wp-admin/user-edit.php

Thank You

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/default-categories/ does what you want.

Can't really see a reason to include this in the core.

Seems like something the core plugin could address -- in general. I'm not sure I'd entirely agree with the assumption that others will have a dedicated account for posting or that this should be at the user level.
