Integrate licensing of content

There are some plugins (like WpLicense) that allow us to license new content. But the possibilities are very limited. It would be much better if meta information would be stored by default for every content that is used, so that every interface in Wordpress works with licenses. For users who do not want to work with licenses there should be a sane default license. The situation now is that people use different plugins and that the meta information of the content can not be exported to instances that do use other techniques. So this must be defined by the Wordpress core. I am sure that the people of Creative Commons would be able to to help, also. Licensing content is getting more and more important nowadays.

  • Resolution set to wontfix
  • Status changed from new to closed

This has been discussed a few times in the wp-hackers list. I vaguely recall Matt arguing, two or three years back, that most users didn't have a clue of what the CC "licenses" meant for the content that got published under them. Rightly so, too.

Best left for plugins imo.
