Configure Widgets per Theme

It should be possible to configure Widgets for all themes, even those that are not currently activated.

This helps in previewing themes and preconfigure them.

Additionally if a theme is activated based on a plugin (styleswitcher, special theme for search engine robotos) this would do a great job.

patch suggestion:

add an option, theme_sidebar_widgets. something like:

  'foo' => $foo_sidebars_widgets,
  'bar' => $bar_sidebars_widgets,

and then a filter on pre_option_sidebars_widgets, that returns theme_sidebar_widgets for the specified theme. That way we'll keep backward compat (I use that option all over the place, personally)

Oh, I should have specified that I want that in the Backend on the Themes packe. A link to configure the Widgets for even the deactivated Themes with Mouse and Keyboard in the Browser.

Sounds like plugin material to me.

Most users will not have a need for such a function, Infact, The only situations i can think of that would need something like this, are very niche cases where other plugins will be needed to make it possible to begin with.

Suggest closing this as wontfix (rather, wontimplement) myself based on that..
