(This happened in 1.5-alpha-6 2004-12-22)
When editing files of a theme - special characters get translated (and don't stay in ascii format) after you save. So for example, I type in © (ambersand copy semicolon) - click "Update files" - and it's no longer ascii format - it's the copyright symbol. If I click "Update files" again - then weird characters show up on my site where the copyright symbol should be...
