I think this is a good addition. Reopening for consideration as Ryan is the commit guy anyway.

technosailor the reason i closed it is because askimet is a plugin that is just incuded in wordpress and is not part of the core (i could delete it and wp would not break) askimet has its own area at http://dev.wp-plugins.org were it gets updated

And the idea of a widget has been raised over here

Im going to leave it opened until i get a 2nd opinion

Akismet is bundled with WordPress which makes it de facto WordPress.

Yes but askimet is still a plug in ... And is regually updated at wp-plugins.org
Although i am not really going to fight here

Bundled plugins are part of the WP release train. I track bugs for the bundled plugins in WP trac so I can include them in the milestones and get better visibility on them.
