I think this is a good addition. Reopening for consideration as Ryan is the commit guy anyway.

technosailor the reason i closed it is because askimet is a plugin that is just incuded in wordpress and is not part of the core (i could delete it and wp would not break) askimet has its own area at were it gets updated

And the idea of a widget has been raised over here
Im going to leave it opened until i get a 2nd opinion

Akismet is bundled with WordPress which makes it de facto WordPress.

Yes but askimet is still a plug in ... And is regually updated at
Although i am not really going to fight here

Bundled plugins are part of the WP release train. I track bugs for the bundled plugins in WP trac so I can include them in the milestones and get better visibility on them.
